NemaCon as an idea was born in the manga section of what was Borders Books at Teesside Park in nearby Stockton-On-Tees. Following a successful manga and anime event that attracted over 100 people, and an equally popular second event, many realised that the store was no longer big enough for us to be able to run the kind of event we wanted and the idea of a full blown manga and anime convention was born. That idea would eventually grow into the North East Manga and Anime Convention, NemaCon for short.
