Biography:
Chipocrite, a.k.a. Paul Weinstein, uses simple Nintendo Game Boy technology to create complex audio masterpieces in a style known as "chip music" - repurposing old video game hardware and other non-traditional technology as synthesizers. His multifaceted but catchy compositions combine the nostalgic game sounds of his childhood with modern music influences.

A former jazz/funk/rock bassist, Chipocrite was first exposed to Philadelphia's budding chip scene in 2009. He quickly fell in love with the chip aesthetic and was determined to learn the ubiquitous Game Boy tracking software Little Sound DJ. In less than two years, he has organized and performed at several renowned chip events including 8static, I/O and a special Halloween set at New York's monthly Pulsewave concert; released Hit and Run, his first studio recording; and provided soundtracks for video games, commercials, online videos and more - you might have seen his name credited to the "Bizarre Love Triangle" cover for "The Legend of Zelda (1987) Trailer," which now has more than 530,000 hits since February.

As a continuously developing chip musician and representative of the global chip community, Chipocrite is excited to share his unique insight into making music with "obsolete" hardware. It's exciting, it's danceable, and, above all, it's some of the most fun he's ever had making music.
